The problem

Your videos look like phone videos. The phone is not the reason.

The camera app makes every decision for you, the light is whatever the room had, the sound comes from a microphone built for phone calls, and the edit is a pile of clips. Four skills fix all of it, and none of them needs new gear.

1

Shoot in pro mode

Manual controls, the right apps, and what your camera's zoom and resolution settings really do. Works on any phone, for any kind of shoot.

2

Light it properly

Simple setups for a product, a person or a space, indoors and out, and which affordable lights are worth buying.

3

Get clean sound

Mic against no mic, heard side by side in the room, where to place it, and which mics are worth the money.

4

Cut it in CapCut

Choosing clips, music that supports the story, cuts and pacing that hold attention, and texts and captions that look on brand.

The day

Learn it in the morning. Shoot it after lunch. Cut it before you leave.

You work on one 30 to 45 second video for your own business, in a small team that crews for each other. Coaches move between teams all day.

For the manager who approves it

Your team stops waiting for someone else to make the video.

One person who can shoot, light, record and edit properly turns every product, event and customer story into content, the same week, without booking a crew.

Marketing and social media

Posts that look professional on a weekly rhythm, made in-house instead of waiting on an agency.

Sales

Product demos and walkthroughs to send to a customer the same day they ask.

Customer service and operations

How-to and setup videos that answer the same question once, for everyone.

Business owners

Your own products, premises and story, filmed by you, on the phone you already carry.

What the company gets back

  • A finished 30 to 45 second video for your business, made on the day
  • A staff member with a repeatable checklist and a plan for the next 10 days
  • Their next video reviewed by the trainer within 10 days, so the skill sticks
  • A certificate of participation for your training records
  • The RM1,499 fee claimable from the HRD Corp levy your company has already paid

Hi, I would like to attend Basics of Mobile Videography, a one-day hands-on workshop in KL.
Before the day
Who teaches it
Umar, Creative Director at ProductNation Trainer

Umar, Creative Director, ProductNation

Runs the camera at ProductNation, the Malaysian tech studio whose work 470,000 people follow, and created the Pocket Cinematic course. Floor coaches from the ProductNation production team work with every team on the day.

"Paying a videographer every time I needed a product video was becoming too expensive. The course showed me which settings actually matter. My videos already look more polished, and I can now create content for my business without depending on someone else every time."

AR
Aina RahmanSmall business owner, Kuala Lumpur

"I always assumed my product videos looked ordinary because I needed a more expensive phone. My biggest problems were automatic exposure, inconsistent white balance and the way I edited. Now I know exactly what to fix instead of randomly changing settings."

  • HRD Corp claims close Fri 6 Nov. Grants must be approved by Thu 12 Nov, 14 days before the workshop.
Reserve through HRD Corp on WhatsApp

Under HRD Corp's grant, 30% of the fee is paid upfront from your company's HRD Corp account to our training partner once the grant is approved; the remaining 70% is claimed after the workshop with your attendance record. Subject to your company's levy balance and HRD Corp approval.

How the HRD Corp claim works

Three steps. Our training partner runs the grant.

  1. Message us on WhatsApp

Your company name, how many seats, and the person in HR or admin who handles HRD Corp.

    By Fri 6 Nov
  2. Our training partner contacts your HR

They reach your HR within one working day, tell them what is needed and file the grant with them.

    Approved by Thu 12 Nov
  3. You attend, our training partner claims the balance

You sign the attendance form on the day. Afterwards they collect the documents from your HR and claim the remaining 70% from HRD Corp.

    Thu 26 Nov 2026
Missed the claim window? Your company can pay first and claim afterwards at the normal price, or pay itself with no claim at all. Ask us and we tell you which fits.
Questions we get
Is it really 100% claimable?

Yes, for a registered employer with enough levy balance. The programme is registered with HRD Corp through our HRD Corp registered training partner. HRD Corp approves each application on its own, so we cannot promise the outcome of a filing, only that the programme and the paperwork are set up for it.

I have never filmed or edited. Is this for me?

Yes. No experience is needed. The morning teaches the basics hands-on before anyone shoots.

Which phone do I need?

Any smartphone with a pro or manual camera mode that can run CapCut. The day starts by setting up whatever phone you bring.

Why do I need a laptop?

You edit your video in CapCut in the afternoon, and a laptop screen makes that far easier. Install CapCut on it before the day and bring the charger.

Do I need to buy any gear?

No. We bring the lights and mics for the practical. We also show which affordable products are worth buying if you want your own later.

What happens if the workshop does not run?

The workshop runs with a minimum of 5 participants. If we do not reach 5 by Fri 6 Nov, we cancel and refund everyone who has paid, in full.

Can you run it at our office instead?

Possibly. Ask us on WhatsApp with your team size and we check whether an in-house day can be claimed for your company, then quote it.
